<help mskills>
Skills on 3Kingdoms add a unique dynamic to your character. Choosing to advance yourself in one or more skills will have a positively profound and somewhat permanent impact on your character. The different skills available for advancement provide you with a myriad of special abilities and tangible effects, the combination of which will be unique to your character.

To see the available skills use the 'skills' or 'mskills' commands.

You get one skill point every even level, and one skill point for every year you've been on 3K. You also get 1 skill point for the first quest you complete. There are also skill specific quests you can get points for.

To advance skills use the 'advance' or 'adv' commands. It is recommended you read the help file on 'advance' as well.

You can see a brief description on most skills in one of two ways: First, try 'help <skill name/skill pre-req>' such as:
- help weapons
- help armor
- help metabolism
- etc.

You can always get information by using the full skill path as well:
- help health.metabolism
- help combat.armor.light
- help combat.weapons.axe.two-handed.elemental
- etc.

There are many skill QUESTS throughout the mud that will grant you additional skill points to spend. These quests follow the same quest rules as normal quests (read 'help quests') and you will be severely punished for sharing qinfo about them.

However, unlike regular quests, the 'skillquests' list is not a complete list of all available skill quests. It is mostly complete, but there are several where even applying a name would give too much information. Some skillquests are merely rewards for paying attention or doing good deeds, so keep an eye out.

Again, in all cases, skill quests are qinfo and any discussion about them will result in punishments involving loss of skill points, loss of levels or stats, quest points, or any number of other severely painful actions.

On the other hand, Skill trainers are to be considered public knowledge. The locations and abilities of these trainers can be shared, however, you should consider your audience when discussing them as many people enjoy the seeking aspect of finding skill trainers. If you feel the need to share the locations then it's advised that you use tells.

You may reset all your spent skill points in order to reallocate them as you wish by issuing the command:

advance skill reset

The cost of performing such a reset begins at 1000 coins for the first time, and increases by orders of magnitude for every subsequent reset.

Skill name: adventuring.auction

Reduces your fees for using the auction house.

Cartography

Skill name: adventuring.cartography
Your level: -= 0/3 =-

Allows you to increase the usefulness of your cardinal minimap, which appears as you move around (assuming you have set it to do so via the 'brief' command ('help brief').

Level 1 displays not only Directions from your current room, but also the rooms in your nearby vicinity along your current line of sight.

Level 2 adds the ability to also see living creatures in the rooms you are able to view.

Level 3 gives you the ultimate, the lineofsight command, which allows you an even further view into your surrounding area. Type 'help lineofsight' for more details about this useful skill.

Evasion

Skill name: adventuring.evasion
Your level: -= 0/2 =-

Gives you a chance to avoid being tracked by hunting monsters as well as increasing the chance that you can tell which direction you ran when you wimpy.

Trainer: Does not require a trainer.

3k Wiki Note:
Gives you a ~5% chance / point to avoid being tracked by hunting monsters.
Has a chance to fire every round that the mob attempts to hunt you. It's not just on the first round.
Also decreases the cooldown for the glimpse power.
Can be toggled off and on with "evasion", in case you want a monster to hunt you.

Skill name: adventuring.fleecing

Increases the amount of money you're able to shake out of the pockets of a fallen adversary (by ~5% / point).

Skill name: adventuring.gemology

Gives you a chance to find gems in otherwise uninteresting rooms. (see also 'search')

3k Wiki Note:
The main purpose of these gems is that you can sell them to any shopkeeper for coins. Please note that the gems you find via gemology are completely distinct from the jewels mined by miners and the gems crafted by enchanters inside the Crafting guild.

Skill name: adventuring.lore

Gives you a chance to identify items just by picking them up.

A lore of 3 allows you to know when you come across a guild artifact, lore 4 makes you aware when someone finds one of your guild's artifacts and lore 5 tells you who it was that found it.

Higher charisma seems to increase your chance of identification.

Caching

Skill name: adventuring.packing.caching

Allows you to 'cache' items.

3k Wiki Note:
Allows you to 'cache' items, which allows you to stash items in a room that only you can find. The higher your skill is, the more items you can cache and the more rooms you can cache them in.
Per Rasta, the cache does NOT clear when the room unloads. So this can basically be used as your own personal box.

Increases your carrying capacity through more efficient packing and load balancing.

Skill name: adventuring.packing.smuggling

Allows you to conceal ('smuggle') items in a special pocket that only you can see. Note that you must remove the item, if you're wearing it, prior to smuggling.

Skill name: adventuring.perception
Your level: -= 0/4 =-

Allows you to see what monsters/creatures are carrying. You can always see worn/wielded items, this helps you see the rest. Level 3 brings you the 'glimpse' command. Each level gives a greater chance of identifying ghostly items held by monsters.

Trainer: Does not require a trainer.

Note titled 'Perception -> 4 (Someone, Mon Mar 26 20:43:00 2007):

The perception skill now has a maximum value of 4.
Perception of 3 will allow one to 'glimpse' nearby rooms. It is rumored that the cool down of this ability is affected by other adventuring skills.

Additionally, perception of 4 will grant you additional knowledge of various and sundry things. Good luck finding out what.

Skill name: adventuring.sharpness

This represents your presence of mind under pressure. Can you escape with skill or just panic and run? Skill level 1 opens up the 'wimpydir' command for you with a 50% success rate. Level 2 is 75% and level 3 is 100%.

Increases the chance you will manage to stop someone stealing items from your inventory.

Allows you to create food from 'butcher'ing fallen corpses. Higher skill levels reduce weight and make food baggable. Also, as your skills in this area increase, the corpses of creatures you kill decay at a much slower rate.

Each point of this skill will also permanently increase your coffin size by 1.

Guilds: Monks / Pinnacle / Fantasy

Evaluation

Skill name: combat.proficiency.evaluation
Your level: -= 0/4 =-

This skill allows you to gain greater information about your foes. Level 1 lets you see whether or not a particular monster is a spellcaster. Level 2 displays the monster's attack type information. Level 3 gives you your current foe's health percentage and level 4 gives you even more than that.

3k Wiki Note:
Level 4 - Specifically, shows health of any scannable mob. It adds the health as a percentage to the short description of the mob. When you look in a room you will see every mob and their health. This skill may also change the color of attacks, being dealt to you by the enemy, to match the resistance color of <score> or <eq> commands.

Chance that a cast spell, or spell point using ability will be significantly reduced cost.
