Halfways Space Station was a port of call for many traders. The International Trade Commission assigned its own personal to monitor ships coming in and out and to prevent trade of illegal items.
The Mafia family of Roberto Spigalo (aka Captain Bob) decided that they wanted a little piece of the action and slowly infiltrated the space station, corrupting the crew with large payoffs. Fortunately for the Spigalo family, the holocaust occurred while the whole family was on board the space station.
Now, with no law to hold them back, they lure unsuspecting 'guests' to the space station to cheat them blind at their many games of chance. They trade goods and contraband with just about anyone who is looking for a quick buck and flood what remains of earth with weapons etc.
This space station can be a jumping off point for other areas that emulate the real 3K. Someone could conceivably make a Mini Tokyo (aka Mega Tokyo) etc. and the space station can grow of course. As it stands, it is currently the home to The Mafia family of Roberto Spigalo (aka Captain Bob).
Created in June 2000.
To fully access Halfway's Space Station, once you enter the mirror from the Newbie Tower, wait a moment and then<board shuttle>
. The shuttle will bring you out to the space station (just make sure you<exit>
the shuttle when it's arrived, otherwise you'll just travel back and forth on the shuttle ...over and over again).
Once you've arrived on the space station, your directions are not the straightforward n/e/s/w. You'll need to choose docking area's, hub, ring, bays, and more, to travel to. Make it to the top of Halfway's Ring and you'll be able to gain access to the Command Center; whereupon you'll meet the nasty Roberto Spigalo, and besting him will gain you a passcard. This passcard can be used to access the bayward area from the walkway.
Additionally, this area also offers the fun game of Skeeball! Gamble your coins and test your luck.

Patrol aircraft have spotted a submarine that has run aground on the east coast of Science. A team was dispatched to investigate but they haven reported in at the appointed time.
The sub is Russian and was supposed to be part of the first strike team, however, something happened in their reactor core. In a fluke of space-time, a sentient being phased into their reactor and fed off the nuclear radiation. When it became strong enough, it attacked and killed the crew. The sub had been traveling in a slow circle, inching its way toward the east coast until finally it ran aground.Created in February 2010.

Juliet-class SSG K-79 - Ship's Log
5 October
Crew and supplies aboard. Ship set to sea. Sealed orders to be opened once we are submerged in open water.
6 October
Ordered to patrol east coast of the United States. Course is specific. We are to remain undetected.
12 October
Have made way around the north side of the British Isle, plan to use Red Route One to reach patrol area.
14 October
Made to Red Route One when all power was lost momentarily. Engineer isn't sure what caused it. The reactor appears to be functioning normally.
15 October
Engineer reports that the reactor is slowly losing power. He says all of the circuits are working correctly and that it appears the nuclear fuel is losing its radioactivity. Fleet says to continue on mission.
17 October
Attack! A Los Angeles class submarine engaged us. We fought back, but took some heavy damage. Reactor is still losing radioactivity. Fleet insists that we reach our designated patrol point.
20 October
We have reached the American East Coast. We have been surfacing at night to make repairs. I can see the lights of the capitol. It appears no one has noticed our presence.
21 October
EAM. We have been ordered to launch our cruise missiles at American targets. Five minutes until launch and there's an explosion from the reactor room. Lost communication with the engine room. Sent men in to investigate and only one returned. He was burned by radiation and mentioned some creature is where the reactor is and that the door to the reactor had melted off!
The rest of the men and I are going to suit up and arm ourselves. We need to get the engines back online. We are slowly turning in a circle and slowly rising to the surface. I can't launch the missiles in this condition.
The log ends there. It appears the captain was unsuccessful. -

As the Cold War continued, stealth technology became a reality with the advent of the stealth fighter and the stealth bomber. DenCom Ltd, a highly secretive defense contractor was developing the first stealth tank. The difference between the stealth technology of the airplanes and the tank is that the tank bends radio waves around it in all spectrums, making it not only invisible to the naked eye, but invisible to any form of detection.
The tank used a unique power source, created from the unlikely fusion of plutonium and a rare crystal called dymonite. The power source can generate enough electricity to run a small town for a year, making this tanks operational range limited only by the terrain it could cross.
The 17th prototype of the tank was the one that was presented to the the Defense Department. Commanding the tank was Captain Wm. Sutherton, with his gunner, Lieutenant Jon Grey and his driver Lieutenant Bob "Bobo" Casey.
The stage was set, the representatives from the DOD had a fine viewing stand out in the southwestern desert. Several targets for the tank were set out and Captain Sutherton had started on this run. The order was given to engage the cloaking device and that's the last anyone saw of the tank....until now.
It turns out that the scientists who did the fusion of plutonium and dymonite did really grasp the power the dymonite had. When the tank when into stealth mode, a flaw in the plasma control valve cause it to stick in a full open position. The energy flow was so tremendous that the tanks stealth system didn't just make the tank invisible, it actually ripped a whole into subspace and sucked the tank in.
The tank crew, being obviously inexperienced in subspace travel, couldn't figure out a solution to their problem and in fact, the tank's reappearance wasn't attributed to the crew. The power to sustain the tank in subspace diminished enough to release them and interesting enough, the valve was able to be closed again.
A complete journal was kept by the Captain, who is, the only survivor of the ordeal, and who has completely lost his mind (as you will see from the journal).Created in April 2000.
